Our Visit to Sweden - Day 5

Our Last Day in Sweden

After having a good breakfast we went out and played on the swings. After a while a snow storm started. We clapped and cheered. Faster than lightening a minibus came and took us to see the elks. Did you know that the elks change their antlers once a year and grow new ones. The tame elks were given the names of Victoria after princess Victoria and her boyfriend Donald who is from Ockelbo.

After having lunch in Ockelbo, we took a train to Gavle and we finished our shopping. Then we returned to the hostel and packed our bags.

Early the next morning we left Ockelbo and took a minibus following a train and another bus to the airport Kavska. We flew by RyanAir back to Malta. We took a bus to the ferry and all our parents were waiting for us at the harbour. We were glad to be back home but sorry that our adventure was over.

Our visit to Sweden

After breakfast we went to Gavle by train. There we visited a train museum where we saw a lot of old trains which had coal engines. One of the trains was used to carry the King in past times. We also had the opportunity to ride in some of the carriages. From the museum we bought some souvenirs.

After having lunch at Gavle we spent an hour of shopping.

When we got back to the Hotel, a teacher from England named Joan helped us build a snowman in front of the hotel. We had dinner with the teachers from the Comenius Project. We enjoyed ourselves a lot.

Our second day in Sweden

After a good nights sleep we had breakfast and joined the children from Ockelbo School on a trip by bus to the slopes. The scenery was spectacular with lots of trees with snow on their branches. We spent four hours of fun in the snow. We built a snowman and we made snow angels. We rolled down the slopes and best of all were the snowball fights we had. We ate bar-b-q sausages. That afternoon around 4.00pm we went swimming in the hot baths and at 7.00pm we ate dinner out. When we went back to the hotel, we watched a movie and after that we went into our rooms and had a good nights sleep.

A Visit to Ockelbo, Sweden

Our day started very early on the 20th of January. At 5.30am we all had to be at Mgarr to catch the 6.00am ferry. Everyone was dressed in warm hats and jackets and boots prepared for the snow. We were very excited to finally be on our way on our much awaited trip to Sweden. We were three girls and two boys accompanied by our teachers Mrs. Carmen Mifsud and Mr. Mark Azzopardi.

We had fun on the ferry and on the minibus, all the way to the airport. We took the AirMalta flight to Munich, Germany. It was snowing there and we could not wait to get in the snow in Sweden then.

We had lunch at the airport and then hopped on another flight, this time on a smaller Lufthansa plane. When we arrived in Arlanda, Stockholm it was already dark and freezing cold outside, but inside it was very bright and warm.

We had to run very fast to try to catch the train which was running under the airport, but when we got to the platform we realized that we still had to wait anyway! All this time we were dragging our little suitcases behind us! While we waited, we played with the revolving door but not for long because people started getting stuck in it! We caught two trains to get to Ockelbo.

In Ockelbo, two teachers came to pick us up and they drove us in their cars to Ockelbo Guesthouse. It was all in white, even our bedrooms. It looked more like a hotel. We didn’t unpack because we were too tired! It was a very long travelling day and by 10.30pm we were all in bed. It didn’t take us long to fall asleep.

We could not wait for our first day in Sweden! Read about the rest of our adventure from my friends.
